Which telescope to choose?!

Have you ever wanted to own your own telescope? And now your sitting there, confused, because there are so many of them. Which one to pick?
Well, today is you lucky day:P. I'm going to tell you about the two telescopes that you can pick from, a reflector or a refractor. The main task for a telescope is to capture light from the object you're watching and then show it to you throug the lens/eye piece. And this is very inportant, because you wan't to see an object and also the details on it.
We can take the moon for an example. You watch the moon because you wan't to see the amazing landscape, which you can't se with your bare eyes.

First, let me tell you more about the reflector telescope. This kind of telescope uses mirror to reflect the captured light, so it can reach you eye. So don't forget, reflector=mirrors. And the opening is always big on this kind of telscope. You can compare it with your pupil (eye). When it's dark, the pupil grows, so that it can catch more light. That's exactly what this telescope is doing. This allows you to see more distant and small objects. The well known Andromeda galaxy is a good example. You can see it better if you use the reflector telescope.  This telescope is with another words perfect for deep-sky photograpy as well. If you wan't to observe the sun, use this telescope! But be very very careful and do not look at the sun directly. Use a special filter, or else you can get blind. Or damage you eye/eyes. A big advantage with this telecope is that they're always very small and compact. This makes it easy to carry it with you wherever you go. One last thing, this telescope is much cheaper! And the second one is called a refractor telescope. The first one used mirrors, but this one has lenses instead.
I don't recommend this kind, because the lensen gets dirty wery quickly, and if you polish a lens too much you can sratch it. That isn't good, it's going to disturb you when you're observing something. I observed the sun once, with my old refractor telescope. A big mistake:P. Something inside the telecope melted, I could smell it.  You may remeber when you were little, and used a magnifying glass to burn a leaf or whatever. A magnifying glass is actually a big lense, like the one the telescope has. And it focuses the light in a point, so if you have paper near the telescope, it can start to burn :P.
There are many good things to say about this kind of telescope, but I don't find one good thing to say. They are long, clumsy and not always stable. Oh yeah, I found one good thing to say about this one. If you buy a special lense to this one, you'll see the object upright. Not upside down. Is this good? I don't mind to see any object upside down.

So choose wisly. And don't pay TO much for your first telescope. My first costed only 700 kronors, cheap! And sorry for my crappy english. I haven't written in english for maybe 1 year. Sorry ^^  I don't know if "capture light" is the right term. But you understand what i mean :) Good luck!   If you wan't this in swedish, wisit teleskoper.
